Islam Times - The Chief of a prominent religious-political party of Pakistan has said, "U.S. and Israel and their Arab allies seek to change the Assad's regime through a proxy war in Syria and we cannot support this proxy war."

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Maulana Fazal ur Rahman said, "now, they want to convert this proxy war into sectarian clashes."

The statement noted, that America's attempts to remove Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria is a clear violation of international principals.

He also condemned the recent attacks on Syrian holy places and asked all Muslims to be ward off such international conspiracies by standing united in the face of evil.

It is important to mention that a number of individuals and organizations in Pakistan have condemned recent attacks on holy places including the holy shrine of Sayyeda Zainab (S.A) in Damascus.

Moreover, Fazal ur Rahman also called for a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis.
Fazal ur Rahman's statement appeared at the time when recently Pakistani media reported that members of some of the extremist groups in Pakistan including Taliban (Pakistani Taliban) have left for Syria to join the insurgents fighting against government in that country.
