Saudi King extends Haj invitation to Iran President Hassan Rouhani

Diplomatic sources under cover of anonymity told the press, "Iran President Rouhani told the Saudi authorities he would accept King Abdullah's express invitation and perform Haj this year." Haj will begin mid-October.

"Several meetings will take place in Mecca before the Kaaba between Iranian and Saudi officials," added the sources.
 
Sources in Saudi Arabia have said that King Abdullah is keen to promote friendly relations with Iran as to promote security and stability in the region and to a greater extent the Islamic world, since Iran has become a beacon for the World Shia community.
 
Several Iranian media sources confirmed that indeed President Rouhani had received a Haj invitation from King Abdullah.
