15 soldiers killed in attack on Libya checkpoint
The state-run news agency LANA said that the attack was carried out by unknown militants near the town of Bani Walid in early hours of Saturday.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.

Bani Walid, one of the last strongholds of the former regime, remains violent after the fall of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Libyans rose up against Gaddafi's four-decade rule in February 2011 and deposed him in August 2011. He was slain on October 20 of the same year.
