Islam Times - Secretary-General of reconciliation: impunity reigns over Bahrain

Islam Times - The Secretary General of al Wefaq National Islamic Society, Sheikh Ali Salman – a prominent and well-respected figure of the opposition – once again denounced al-Khalifa regime and as he calls it Bahrain’s power culture of impunity.

Determined to hold on to power no matter the bloodshed and the horrors they would have to commit along the way, al-Khalifa has oppressed his people for well over two years now, with the backing of the GCC and to an extent the international community.

But Sheikh pointed to the fact that while the regime had indeed committed countless horrors since 2011, its stands against Shiite Islam far pre-date the Islamic Revolution. Abuse and torture have existed in Bahrain since 2001.

Salman explained that long before the Bassiouni report was ever written al-Khalifa has been torturing, mis-treating and abusing his people in the vilest, most cruel possible way.
