Iran Foreign Minister to tour the Persian Gulf
This will be the Foreign Minister’s first visit since Iran’s successfully stroke a deal with the UN 5+1 Committee in relation to its nuclear ambitions.

Minister Zarif has said to be keen to promote bi-lateral relations and cooperation with all neighbouring countries as to promote stability and peace in the region. He is also looking forward discussing the Syrian crisis and convey Tehran’s desire to see through a diplomatic solution.

Speaking at a news conference in Tehran on Wednesday with his Turkish counterpart, Ahmet David Ooglua, Minister Zarif called on the region’s leaders to push for a truce in Syria ahead of Geneva2.

Moreover, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that Tehran was prepared to take part in the Syria peace talks in Geneva, slated for January 22, if invited.

"Participation of Iran in Geneva 2 is in our view an important contribution to the resolution of the problem. We have said all along that if Iran is invited, we will participate without any preconditions," Zarif told Iran's Press TV.

Zarif said resolving the Syria crisis was an issue of "national importance" for Iran and whether invited or not, Tehran would continue to work for a peaceful solution.
