Ayatollah Khamenei: Foreign Presence in Afghanistan causes Corruption
Islam Times reports that Ayatollah Khamenei, the head of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, met with the presidents of Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Iran on Friday afternoon. He emphasized the common ground that these countries have with each other and said: “Iran, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan are related to each other. The interests of these three countries are intertwined together.”
He added: “The Progression and security of Afghanistan and Tajikistan is in the benefit of Iran and the advancement and security of Iran is definitely in the benefit of other countries in the region.”
He stated that Iran is prepared to cooperate with these countries, by saying: “Iran is prepared to share its experiences and advancements in intellectual fields with Tajikistan and Afghanistan.”
Then, he turned towards Afghanistan and said: “The foreigners chanted chanted the slogans of establishing peace and democracy when they entered Afghanistan. Now, they target civilians. Their presence will not result in anything except evilness and corruption for the people of Afghanistan.”
He continued: “These powers are only after their own interests. But, the present conditions of the region are very different than the past…America today is different to the America of twenty years ago. Their ability has been limited by various issues such as the enlivenment of Islam.”
