4 Jan 2014 05:18

Islam Times - Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al Faisal will be visiting Pakistan on January 6 on a two-day-long trip, which is being viewed as one carrying an important message to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from the kingdom's leadership, Pakistani media reported.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry sources confirmed that the Saudi foreign minister will be holding talks with Prime Minister Sharif and the premier's advisor on foreign policy and national security, Sartaj Aziz.

On its website, the daily Dawn reported Thursday that the coming meeting will be the first high-level contact between the two countries since Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz came to power.

The Saudi foreign minister and the Pakistani leadership will discuss bilateral ties and the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Faisal’s visit can be viewed in the light of latest developments in former dictator Pervez Musharraf’ s treason case, who is regarded as close to the Saudi regime. Sources have revealed the issue is likely to come under discussion.
