‘Iran UAVs tracked US vessels in PG several times’

 “Our unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have, on numerous occasions, flown above American warships and captured videos and photos [of them] and conducted reconnaissance without them noticing,” Iran’s Deputy Navy Commander Rear Admiral Siavash Jarreh told the Fars News Agency on Monday.
 
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian commander pointed to the role of helicopters equipped with special torpedoes in anti-submarines operations.
 
“The torpedoes fired from the choppers are the same as those fired from surface units. These torpedoes can be fired from fighter jets as well,” said Jarreh.
 
“The Navy’s aircraft are mainly tasked with anti-submarine missions,” said the rear admiral.
 
State-of-the-art anti-subsurface and anti-surface torpedoes are currently being produced at the nation’s defense industries, he said.
 
The commander further said the Navy’s vessels have been equipped with air defense missiles, such as the Ra'ad (Thunder).
 
He then pointed to the country’s recent achievement in the field of radars and said the Asr (Age) radar system can be mounted on all naval vessels.
 
In recent years, Iran has secured great breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.
 
Iran has repeatedly said its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
