KSA, Qatar funding terrorism in Jordan

9 Feb 2014 10:50

Islam Times - Saudi Arabia and Qatar are reportedly funding terrorist operations in Jordan to destabilize the kingdom following their failure to undermine President Bashar al-Assad's government in Syria.

A report published Thursday in the Palestinian news agency al-Manar said Doha has been funding terrorist elements against the Hashemite rule in Jordan.

Riyadh is sending Salafi extremists to the kingdom to weaken Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood, the report added.

Jordanian intelligence sources have reportedly warned against the threat posed by the Saudi- andQatari-backed terrorist activities.

They say the measures come on the heels of Saudi and Qatari losses in Syria and are aimed at preventing unrest in Riyadh and Doha.

The al-Manar report also referred to relations Israel has recently forged with major energy producers.

It said Tel Aviv has been trying to fuel unrest in the Middle East nations to evade international pressure regarding the issue of Palestine.

American historian Webster Griffin Tarpley said Saudi Arabia and Qatar were bribing US congressmen to push for a military strike against Syria.

Last June, former US national security adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, said the relentless militancy in Syria was being orchestrated by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and their Western allies.

“In late 2011 there are outbreaks in Syria produced by a drought and abetted by two well-known autocracies in the Middle East: Qatar and Saudi Arabia,” Brzezinski stated in an interview with The National Interest.
