Islam Times- High-level Palestinian sources, which are well informed about the closed circles of political decision in the Palestinian National Authority, uncovered that there is a tendency by some people to launch organized information campaigns against the Islamic Republic of Iran. In fact, this would be done through praising and supporting the Iranian opposition through media, highlighting its activities in the Palestinian media, and working on distorting the image of the ruling Iranian regime.

The sources, which asked not to be mentioned by name, told Islam Times correspondent in the West in a statement that there are some rational people who asked the decision-makers not to launch campaigns against Iran, because this would not serve the Palestinian cause, which is in need for any voice to support and back it.
The sources pointed out that many of the writers, those who are close to the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) media and who owe material allegiance at home and abroad, attacked recently Iran by trying to distort the image of Iran during the Jerusalem Day. The source added that Iran is merely trying to work on launching media statements, and it is the one responsible for the division taking place between the Palestinians by supporting one party against the other i.e. “supporting Hamas at the expense of Fatah”.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Rabiha Diab, Minister of Women’s Affairs in the Ramallah authority, supported the population of the Iranian opposition of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (MEK), who are residing in Camp Ashraf in Iraq, via sending messages of solidarity by Diab and Abdullah Mustafa Gharaibeh, a Jordanian MP, to those refugees of Camp Ashraf.
The following is the text of the Diab’s message:
“First of all, good evening to all our sisters and women at Camp Ashraf. Second, we would like to send our greetings to them on behalf of the Palestinian women, we call for lifting the unjust siege on those people in Camp Ashraf, and we declare our solidarity as Palestinian women and as a Palestinian people with those sisters. In fact, we believe that this injustice will not last long and will disappear, if it is God’s will. Our aspirations as a Palestinian people will be fulfilled i.e. to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and freedom for our brothers and sisters in Camp Ashraf will be achieved. Therefore, we call for lifting the unjust siege imposed on them, and here we are particularly addressing the United Nations, which is asked to protect the civilians wherever they were, including the refugees, in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention. Moreover, we would like to say that this injustice is going to disappear by God’s will and by our solidarity. In this holy month of Ramadan we would like to send a tribute to our sisters and women in this camp, and we would like to tell them that the release is going to happen soon, if it is God’s will.
For his part, Professor Abdul Sattar Qassem, political science professor at An-Najah National University in the West Bank, told Islam Times correspondent, commenting on the attack launched by the Palestinian Authority on Iran: “This attack is unjustified, and there is no reason for mobilizing the Palestinian street against Iran and/or fighting against it through the media”.
He continued: “In many cases, when we talk about the Zionist entity and the United States of America and Iran, the authority says, “Iran is dominating the entire world, and this means that they are comparing between the Iranian threat and the American threat, and they consider that the Iranian threat is greater”.
Qassem pointed out that when Iran criticized the negotiations, as many leading authority figures, factions, Arab personalities, and/or international human rights organizations already did, the Authority did not revile them. However, when Iran criticized all the pens were ready to revile”.
He explained that the Authority considers that Iran is supporting Hamas and the factions opposing the “Oslo Accords”. This attack is not considered a Palestinian interest, and the authority as a whole is a threat to the Palestinian cause.
Regarding the media advocacy practiced by the Minister Rabiha Diab, the Minister of Women’s Affairs in the Ramallah authority, against the Iranian opposition group and its effects on the Palestinian-Iranian relations, Qassem said: “Eventually, this is bad for the Palestinian cause”.
It is noteworthy that the Palestinian Authority’s attack in Ramallah on Iran came after Ahmadinejad criticized the president of the Fatah authority Mahmoud Abbas without naming him, and described him as a “hostage” in the hands of the Zionist entity. Commenting on this, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a presidential spokesman said: “A person who do not represent the Iranian people, and who forged the elections, suppressed the Iranian people, and stole the authority has no right to talk about Palestine, the President of Palestine, and/or the Palestinian representation”.
As a result, Iran was surprised by the criticism. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told the media in a statement: “Fatah government spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeina, should be more careful when choosing his words. He expressed his regret over the “insulting and contradictory” criticisms, which were made by Abu Rodeineh, and which came against the interests of the Islamic Ummah.
