15 May 2014 06:16

Islam Times - U.S. drone strikes on Pakistan’s frontier region resumed after a five months lull. A drone fired missiles in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region this Wednesday confirmed media.

The attack, which occurred early morning, reportedly killed at least two suspected terror operatives.

A local official from Khyber Agency - the Pakistani tribal region - told media the American drone fired three missiles in Chancharo Khawa area of Naziyan on Pakistan-Afghanistan, targeting suspected terror hideouts.

The official, however, did not confirm the number of casualties or injured. Independent sources claimed at least two men were killed in the attack and scores others wounded.

Islam Times could not at this time independently verify any of the allegations since access in this remote region of Pakistan remains difficult.

The last drone strike in Pakistan took place on December 26, 2013, killing four people.

Drone strikes in the Pakistani border region began in 2004 Washington war on terror. Many civilians including women and children have been killed in such strikes prompting public anger.
