Left Unity party holds first confab
Around 500 delegates attended the conference that was held on November 14 and 15 to vote on ideas for the manifesto of next year’s general election.

The party was created in November 2013 in an attempt to offer an alternative to those on the Left who are disaffected with Labour – which is accused for a growing inclination toward the right in recent years and a tendency to support anti-worker austerity measures.

With over 2,000 registered members, the Left Unity expects to contest about 12 seats at next year's general elections.  Further, it hopes to drag mainstream political debate to the Left.

The seats targeted at the next election will be those with incumbent Blairite Labour MPs and candidates who share these views.
