The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) launched an investigation after the song, part of which was filmed, surfaced recently.

A retired LAPD officer performed the song at a dinner party after a charity golf event in the Glendale Elks Lodge mostly attended by retired cops.

“Michael Brown learned a lesson about a messin' with a badass policeman,” sang the former investigator, identified as Gary Fishell, as is heard in the video apparently captured on smart phone.

The teenager, shot dead by former officer Darren Wilson in August, is also referred to as “baddest thug in the whole darn town,” as well as “deader than a roadkill dog.”

“Two men took to fightin' / And Michael punched in through the door / And Michael looked like some old Swiss cheese / His brain was splattered on the floor,” continued the song, a parody of  “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” by American singer-songwriter Jime Croce.

Brown’s death sparked days of protest during the month of August and further fueled racial tensions in the US.

Following a grand jury’s decision not to charge Wilson, protests were reignited across the US.
