"Netanyahu will remain a symbol of terrorism in the world," Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said on Tuesday, lashing out at the Israeli premier for partaking in an anti-terrorism rally in, Paris.

On Sunday, thousands of anti-terrorism protesters gathered for a rally in Paris. The event came after days of deadly attacks, which claimed the lives of 17 people and three gunmen in France.

Netanyahu's participation in the anti-terrorism rally in the French capital "will not exonerate him from his crimes in the Gaza Strip," Abu Zuhri added.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also hit out at Netanyahu for attending the anti-terrorism protest.

Erdogan blamed Netanyahu for leading "state terrorism" against the Palestinian people, saying that he could "hardly understand how he (Netanyahu) dared to go" to the anti-terrorism march in Paris.

According to Israel’s Channel 2, French President Francois Hollande had sent a message to Netanyahu, asking him not to participate in the unity march as he believed the Israeli premier’s presence there would be “divisive.”

About 1,500 buildings and structures were demolished during the latest Israeli offensive, which started in early July 2014 and ended in late August that year.

Over 2,140 Palestinians, including 577 children, were killed in the Israeli onslaught. Over 11,100 others, including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people, were also injured.

Gaza has been blockaded by Israel since 2007, causing a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty.
