Sen. Graham: I blame Obama for Iraq, not Bush

The Iraq war began by former president George W. Bush in 2003.
“I blame Obama for Iraq, not Bush,” Graham said in New Hampshire.

“Bush made mistakes. He corrected his mistakes. Obama leaving Iraq, ignoring the advice of all of his military commanders – he was told what would happen if you leave Iraq with no troops left behind,” he added.

In 2003, Bush ordered the US-led invasion of Iraq under the pretext of finding weapons of mass destruction allegedly stockpiled by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. That later proved to be false.

It was revealed that not only Saddam Hussein was not in possession of WMDs but also that United States and Britain leaders knew about the non-existence of such weapons.

As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Graham said Bush invaded Iraq with “faulty intelligence... but with intelligence the entire world believed. So when you look at the mistakes of Iraq, the one I blame the most is Barack Obama, not George W. Bush.”

The Iraq war is highlighted after Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush said that he would have invaded the country in 2003 if he was the president of the United States.

In an interview with Fox News earlier this week, the former Florida governor admitted that he would have repeated the mistake of his brother.

“I would have [authorized the invasion], and so would have [Democratic presidential contender] Hillary Clinton, just to remind everybody. And so would almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got,” he said.
