“Undoubtedly, the [Iranian] defense industry is considered the ‘symbol of power and national production’ and … it will give the enemies of the [Islamic] Revolution and the Islamic country a tough lesson which will make them regret [what they have done],” the Chiefs of Staff said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement underlined the need for Iran to upgrade its defense power in the face of enemy threats, stressing that Iran’s Armed Forces will not hesitate to seriously pursue the goal as already demanded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“The great achievements and capabilities in the country’s defense industry in the fields of land, sea and aerospace, which are attained by meeting modern global standards, have made the Islamic Republic of Iran the supreme and unquestionable power of the region and put it on a par with trans-regional powers,” it added.

The statement was released on the occasion of National Defense Industry Day in Iran, which falls on August 22. The national day marks Iran’s achievements in the defense sector.

Iran has, on numerous occasions, pledged a serious response to any acts of military aggression. The Islamic Republic has, however, repeatedly said that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
