The US military says it has conducted 20 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since Wednesday
According to the US military, four airstrikes in Syria targeted tactical units, artillery and vehicles near the cities of Hasakah and Raqqah and in the Mar'a region.

It said in a statement that the so-called US-led coalition against Daesh used fighter bombers and remotely piloted aircraft to attack the ISIL positions.

16 other airstrikes reportedly hit various militant artillery and machine gun positions in Iraq. The strikes hit buildings and fighting positions near Kirkuk, Ramadi and Sinjar, among other locations, the military said.

In a separate statement, the military said three other airstrikes destroyed two explosives production facilities of the ISIL near Mosul.

This is while Iraqi officials have on different occasions questioned the efficacy of the US-led attacks on militant positions.

Gruesome violence has plagued the northern and western parts of Iraq ever since ISIL Takfiris launched an offensive in June 2014, and took control of portions of Iraqi territory.

Daesh Takfiris have also been wreaking havoc on Syria, where the country has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. The United States and its regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - have been supporting the militants operating inside Syria since the beginning of the crisis.
