“European governments and EU institutions need to be on alert, and should consider publicly addressing the possibility of a terrorist attack using chemical, biological, radiological or even nuclear materials," read a report by the European Parliament released early December.

The terrorist’s use of rudimentary chemical warfare shells against Kurds in Syria and Iraq shows that they have access to the required material for such attacks.

The report also notes the terrorists have had several opportunities over the past few years to gain access to non-conventional materials in Syria, Iraq, and Libya, where they remain active.

The terrorists have had the financial capability to procure materials for such attacks and showed their ability in recruiting experts required.

The report suggests that EU governments should take precautions against chemical attacks by bolstering security around key installations and equipping emergency crews with antidotes for non-conventional attacks.

In the latest Daesh attack on Europe's soil, some 130 were killed in a bombing and shooting spree in Paris in mid-November.
