In an address to Russian Security Service staff gathering in the capital, Moscow, on Saturday, Putin said armed forces have not used all their capability in Syria yet.

"We see how efficiently our pilots and intelligence agents coordinate their efforts with various kinds of forces – the army, navy and aviation, how they use the most modern weapons," the Russian president said.

"I want to stress that these are by far not all of our capabilities," Putin said. "We have more military means. And we will use them – if need be," Putin stated.

The comments come as an alliance of the Syrian military and volunteer fighters have been making advances against militant groups in the Arab country since Russia, following a request from Damascus, launched an air campaign against the militants on September 30.

According the Russian Defense Ministry, since Moscow started its anti-terror operations in Syria more than 4,000 combat sorties have been conducted against the Takfiri terrorists.

For more than four years, Syria has been grappling with militancy that it blames on certain foreign countries. The crisis has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people.
