Trump trying to divide, scare middle class: Dem candidate

Islam Times - Independent US Senator Bernie Sanders has accused leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump of creating divisions by scaring the middle class.
"We must bring people together to take on the powerful who've hurt the middle class. Trump is trying to play on fears and divide us up," Sanders, who is seeking the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, wrote on Twitter Friday afternoon.
"I believe we stand together to address the real issues facing this country, not allow them to divide us by race or where we come from," added Sanders, whose emphasis on US income inequality and influence of corporate money on elections and government has helped him attract large crowds on the campaign trail.
Since he joined the 2016 White House race in mid-June, Trump’s campaign has been marked by controversy, including disparaging remarks about women, Muslims and Mexican immigrants.
Last month, the New York multibillionaire proposed banning Muslims from entering the US, drawing widespread condemnation both domestically and internationally.
Trump, whose paternal grandparents immigrated from Germany and his mother emigrated from Scotland, has also called for the deportation of all undocumented immigrants from the United States.
American journalist Don DeBar said it looks like that Trump’s role in the US presidential election is to get Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton elected.
DeBar said on December 9 he has “questions about whether Trump’s role in this entire election is to get 'her' elected.”
“Clinton as a Democratic nominee… needs the middle to win the presidential election, to the extent that it's the middle of the US electorate, which is pretty far to the right, and so does the Republican nominee” he stated. “And Trump is scaring that middle away.”
“So it seems designed to get Hillary Clinton get elected, to make her look like she is taking a progressive stand out there,” the analyst pointed out.
