According to the Fox News poll released Sunday, Trump was far ahead of other Republican contenders with 54 percent support, holding a 32-point lead over Ohio Governor John Kasich with 22 percent.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who is projected as Trump’s most serious challenger in his hometown, scored a rather low 15 percent.

According to the pollsters, none of Trump’s rivals were able to challenge the billionaire businessman’s popularity among men, women, and every age, income and education group in New York.

So far in the primary contests, Trump has won 743 delegates out of the 1,237 needed for Republican nomination.

Cruz is lagging behind the real-estate magnate with 545 delegates while Kasich has a remote chance of caching up with the competition having won only 143 delegates.

Clinton trouncing Sanders

On the Democratic side, former first lady Hillary Clinton was leading longtime Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders with 53 percent to 37 percent support among New York’s Democratic voters.

Clinton congratulated Sanders on his latest win in Wyoming, but reminded him of her “nearly insurmountable lead” in delegate counts.

Latest reports suggest that Clinton is cruising ahead of Sanders by winning 1,756 of the 2,383 delegates needed for the Democratic nomination, compared to the Vermont Senator’s 1,068.

New York primary elections are scheduled for April 19. A total of 95 Republican delegates are up for grabs in the state while Democrats will battle for 247.
