Kuwaiti Paper: 8-Billion Dollar US Fighter Jet Deal with Kuwait, Bahrain & Qatar before Obama’s Departure
The local paper said that a brutal political battle is taking place behind closed doors regarding the fighter jet deal. The Obama administration had agreed, almost a year ago, to sell 76 fighter jets valued at a total of $8 billion.

The Pentagon and State Department have signed off on the separate deals, which would send 36 Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets to Qatar, 24 Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornets to Kuwait, and 16 F-16s to Bahrain. The Qatari sale is worth roughly $4 billion, the Kuwaiti deal around $3 billion, and the Bahraini sale is valued at $1 billion. Both offers have been on the table for more than two years awaiting final approval from the White House.
