"If a divided society crosses a certain threshold, you can reach phenomena such as civil war, in extreme cases," Tamir Pardo, former Mossad Chief said in press conference.

Stressing that the distance between present tensions in Israeli society and a civil war is continuously shrinking; he added "I'm afraid we're in that direction".

In response to a question about the potential threats against Tel Aviv, he said "Threats to countries today are internal and not external. What you have in Syria, in Iraq, in Libya and in Yemen and in a lot of countries – you see the daily statistics of attacks".

Refraining from putting blame on any single political party or leader, he said "a lot of red lines are crossed in elections, but the problem is that the election is being carried on all years. The rift is acceptable in the legislature, but all the disagreements are being dragged down".

This is the first public appearance of Pardo after his resignation from Mossad earlier this year. Tel Aviv regime has been facing major political and social challenges and clashes following its internal political problems that have led to clashes among different parties and financial corruptions among top leaders including former Prime Ministers Ehud Olmert, current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri who served prison for receiving bribes.
