Hundreds of Muslims held their prayers ritual for the day near the residency of Sheikh Isa Qassim in the northwestern village of Diruz. The prayers showed their support for the leader with a rally afterwards.

Bahraini regime revoked the Bahraini nationality of Sheikh Isa Qassim in a bid to marginalize the highly popular cleric but the move resulted in a more continuous and resolute support for the leader. His supporters have been staging a sit-in protest near his home for weeks now.

Another group of Bahraini protestors gathered in al-Musalla Village west of Manama holding pictures of Sheikh Qassim and their national flags.

Pro-democracy rallies were held in other parts of the country including in villages of Abu Saiba and Shakhura west of the capital.

Demonstrations against the ruling monarchy in Bahrain began in 2011 but were faced with a violent crackdown even leading to a Saudi led intervention on Manama demand to stop the protests.
