Viewpoints of Iran Leader on Confronting Arrogant Powers
Ayatollah Khamenei has termed the US as an enemy who openly violates agreements with the most recent example being Washington’s reneging on the nuclear deal with Iran. Below are excerpts of viewpoints of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on confronting global arrogance.

Fighting Arrogant Powers, a principal objective of the Islamic Revolution

The Islamic Revolution is an exception. The Islamic Revolution was a movement that was carried out with specific goals in mind. The goals that had been specified were general in certain cases and they were gradually broken down and made more specific later on, but the Revolution had clear goals. Demanding the implementation of Islam, fighting the arrogant powers, demanding independence for the country, bringing about dignity for humanity, defending the oppressed, bringing about scientific, technological and economic progress for the country - these were the goals of the Revolution.  August 10,2011, in a meeting with university students

Fighting Arrogance, a Major Principle

Objectives and standards to be maintained include fighting the arrogant powers, specifying the borders with the enemies of the Revolution and Islam, and determined resistance against the wave of kufr and hypocrisy - not just inside the country, but throughout the world. A person who fails to specify the borders in a clear way only undermines his respect. If a person develops a tendency towards the enemies, he becomes an outsider. These are the principles and guidelines. June 23, 2010, in a meeting with Basiji professors from across Iran

Fighting Arrogant Powers among major characteristics of the Islamic Revolution

Seeking justice, genuine independence and freedom, fighting arrogant powers, avoiding the adoption of a passive attitude against the enemy, populist orientation, kindness to the oppressed, avoidance of extravagance and aristocratic lifestyles are among the most basic principles of the Islamic Revolution must not be subject to the slightest change. August 28, 2008, in a meeting with the head and members of the Assembly of Experts

Success of the Islamic Republic Confronting Arrogance

Fighting against the arrogant powers implies not surrendering to the pressure exerted on us. We are standing firm in this area as well. This was a difficult task, but the Islamic Republic managed to do that successfully. February 5, 2011, Tehran Friday Prayers Sermons

No Retreat in Confronting the Arrogant Enemy

There should be no retreating in confronting the arrogant enemy. The Islamic system must be strong, firm and powerful in such a manner that the enemy feels helpless. August 28, 2008 in a meeting with head and representatives of the Leadership Experts Assembly

No End in Confronting Arrogance

What is the status of confronting US Arrogance after the (Nuclear) Talks? Is there and end in the struggle against arrogance? The fight against arrogance and hegemonic system, based on Quranic principles, will never stop, and today the US is the most complete example of arrogance. The fight against arrogance is among principles of the revolution and is a main activity, [and] therefore, prepare yourselves to continue the fight against arrogance. July 12, 2015 in a meeting with hundreds of students

The US is Arrogant, Thuggish, and Greedy

We - including our people and we ourselves – those who mention the name of the US do this because of its arrogance. The issue of the US is arrogance. We mention its name because the US is an arrogant government. Its methods are based on arrogance. We have no problems with America as a geographical entity, as a nation or as a group of people. In this sense, it is like other countries. Our issue with the US is the issue of American arrogance. They are arrogant, conceited, thuggish and greedy. The statements that they made recently on the issue of nuclear negotiations prove this. Notice that they negotiated for several months and now, they have extended them. After that, they began talking, just like always.

November 27,2014 in a meeting with Members of Supreme Council of Basij-e-Mostazafin

On November 4, 1979, a few months after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarch, Iranian university students who had a group known as "students following the path of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)" seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a den of espionage and planning to overthrow the nascent Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents vindicating their assertion that US embassy was actively engaged in a plot to topple the Islamic Republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (which this year falls on November 3), the Iranian nation, particularly the students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day which has been designated as “National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance.”
