ISIS Terrorists Obtained US, Saudi Arabia Weapons: Report
According to a study by arms-monitoring group Conflict Armament Research (CAR) published on Thursday, weapons supplied by the US and Saudi Arabia to militants in Syria often fell into the hands of ISIS, significantly enhancing the "quantity and quality" of the group's armaments.

The number of weapons goes "far beyond those that would have been available through battle capture alone", according to the study.

The Weapons of the Islamic State report was based on a three-year field investigation in Iraq and Syria into the group's arms and their origins.

It analyzed more than 40,000 items found on the battlefield including weapons, ammunition, and materials used to make improvised explosive devices. Some were acquired by ISIS through shifting alliances within the Syrian militant groups.

"Iraq and Syria have seen ISIS forces use large numbers of weapons, supplied by states such as Saudi Arabia and the United States," said CAR.

It has long been known that ISIS captured huge amounts of US weapons, including tanks and artillery, when the terror group swept into Syria and Iraq in 2014.

The US-led coalition has been conducting illegal airstrikes against what are said to be ISIS targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.

The Syrian government has on several occasions blamed the US and its regional allies of backing Takfiri terrorists while Russia has provided evidence showing how US Forces in Syria assist ISIS Terrorists.
