Ivana Trump, the president’s first wife, made the comments in an interview with Page Six released Saturday.

“I’ll tell you something, I don’t think it’s necessary,” she said. “He has a good life and he has everything. Donald is going to be 74, 73 for the next [election] and maybe he should just go and play golf and enjoy his fortune.”

The 69-year-old further suggested that the New York billionaire had no idea about presidency ahead of running for the 2016 presidential election.

“I think he probably [misses] a little bit of freedom, I don’t think he probably knew how much is involved of being the president. It’s so [much] information — you have to know the whole world," she noted.

Trump has announced that he would run for reelection in 2020 and has named his former data operations manager Brad Parscale as campaign manager.

‘I feel bad for Melania’

Trump’s current wife, Melania, is not happy with allegations of her husband’s sexual encounters, Ivana claimed.

“I feel bad for [Melania] because I know how bad I did feel. It hurts a lot,” she said, referencing Trump’s affair with Marla Maples, which made her divorce him in 1992.

“I divorced Donald immediately because I told myself, ‘Am I going to live with the person [who] is going to say, ‘I’m going to go and play golf’ [leaving me to] think, ‘Is he really going to go and play golf?’ I cannot do it."

The new announcement was made in the backdrop of growing allegations of sexual misconduct against powerful figures in Hollywood as well as the world of politics.

Campaigners and rights activists stress that many victims of sexual abuse and exploitation decline to report the incident due to fear, shame, and worry about damage to their career.

The US and the UK are specifically struggling to deal with a series of sexual abuse scandals that have raised doubts about how institutions, including the church, sports teams and the news media respond to those vulnerable to abuse.

One of the most controversial cases for Trump involves a 2016 payment he made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about allegations that she had a sexual encounter with Trump.
