Islam Times - Venezuela: Clashes break out after aid trucks attempt to cross border

Islam Times - Violence broke out in the border city of San Antonia de Tachira on Friday, after trucks and protesters attempted to break through the barricaded Simon Bolivar bridge to bring humanitarian aid into the country.

Soldiers from the Venezuelan National Guard could be seen firing projectiles and tear gas, while protesters on both sides, some supporting humanitarian aid, others helping the soldiers, threw rocks.

One of the protesters in support of Maduro and the Venezuelan National Guard spoke of his resolve to fight at the border, saying "to the Colombian oligarchy, who want to pick a fight with us, peaceful Venezuelans: we'll all fight on, I remain with Chavez. The Bolivarian revolution will not end today or ever. If you want to end the revolution, you'll have to kill us."

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has stated that the aid is a US plot to disguise an intervention in Venezuela.
