Islam Times - Boko Haram terrorists have killed at least 11 Chadian soldiers in the Lake Chad region bordering Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

"The Chadian army lost 11 men including three officers... and six soldiers were wounded," the regional authority told media on Sunday, adding that Chadian soldiers killed "26 Boko Haram members" who had seized cattle in the region.

Since 2018, Boko Haram terrorists hailing from northeast Nigeria have carried out at least nine attacks in Chad.

Security sources earlier said seven Chadian soldiers and a guard were killed in the ambush that happened on Friday in Mbomouga in Chad's Ngouboua area.

In 2015, the four aforementioned countries formed a joint task force to fight militants.

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) killed 42 Daesh Takfiri terrorists in the Lake Chad region on June 21.

MNJTF said in a statement that this is the heaviest death toll suffered by the insurgents in the last six months.

It added that one of its soldiers was killed and 10 others were injured in battle.

Boko Haram started its campaign of militancy in Nigeria in 2009 with the aim of toppling the central government.

In 2016,  Boko Haram pledged allegiance to Daesh forming a new faction in the region.

Boko Haram's campaign of militancy in Nigeria has killed more than 30,000 people and displaced about 2.5 million since 2009.
