Islam Times - Damascus: Israeli aggression aims to prolong the war against Syria

Islam Times - The Syrian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement on Monday that "the treacherous Israeli aggression comes within the framework of Tel Aviv's ongoing attempts to prolong the crisis in the country and the terrorist war against it."

The Foreign Ministry demanded that the Security Council assume its responsibilities and take firm and immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.

Two letters were sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Security Council "The Israeli occupation authorities, after midnight on 12.35 on Monday, 1 July 2019, again attacked the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, in flagrant violation of Security Council Resolution 350 of 1974 on the agreement of separation of forces between the two sides."

The ministry added that the Israeli forces launched successive waves of missiles from over Lebanese territory, and targeted the governorates of Damascus and the countryside of Damascus and Homs, killing 4 civilians, including a girl, and wounded 21 others, mostly women and children, and the destruction of citizens' homes and property.

The ministry pointed out that the Israeli authorities' persistence in the practice of state terrorism has increased following the failure of its attacks and conspiracies since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, in order to support the terrorist groups and prevent the Syrian army and its allies from defeating the organization "Isis", "Nasra" and the other terrorist groups.

In its letters, the Foreign Ministry explained that all the Israeli attacks did not succeed in intimidating the Syrian people, but increased its determination to uphold the inevitability of its victory over terrorism and to restore the occupied Syrian Golan to the line of June 4, 1967.

The Foreign Ministry also said that "Israel's continuation of its dangerous aggressive approach would not have been possible without the unlimited and continuous support given to it by the American administration in particular, and the immunity from the accountability it provides to it and the countries known in the Security Council."

The Ministry again called upon the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities within the framework of the Charter of the United Nations, the most important of which is the maintenance of international peace and security and the adoption of firm and immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, and to compel Israel to respect its decisions regarding the separation of forces agreement and its accountability for its terrorism and its crimes against the Syrian and Palestinian peoples, and its continued support for terrorist organizations, all of which constitute flagrant violations of the Charter of the United Nations, the provisions of international law, Security Council resolutions 242, 338, 350 and 497, and all relevant international resolutions and instruments against terrorism.
