Russia accuses the United Nations of providing "false" statements about an alleged Russian bombing

10 Aug 2019 06:22

Islam Times - Russia on Friday accused the United Nations of making "false statements" of alleged bombing of schools and hospitals in Idlib.

The UN humanitarian official in Syria, Panos Moumtzis, announced Thursday in Geneva that in the past few days his office confirmed that 39 health facilities, 50 schools, water distribution centers, markets and bakeries in several civilian neighborhoods had been hit.

But Russian envoy Gennady Gatilov criticized the United Nations for relying on "false statements."

He stressed that Moscow had asked its military personnel to confirm the validity of each accusation of bombing civilian targets, but they found that the data provided by the "humanitarian agencies of the United Nations was wrong."

“They say that on a specific day a school or hospital in an area was destroyed and they present the coordinates. Our staff verified this and noticed that there was no hospital in that place and no school and on the day referred to by the UN humanitarian agencies, there was no Russian raid." He added.

And United Nations agencies were asked to "verify the information they received from non-governmental organizations". adding "They don't do that and I don't know why."
