Islam Times - Prime Minister of Pakistan reveals that the Saudi Crown Prince and the US President asked him to communicate with the Iranian President in order to defuse the tension in the Gulf.

Khan said he was acting as a mediator, refusing to reveal more.
"Before my meeting with Trump on Monday, I stopped in Saudi Arabia because of the rallies attack on oil facilities, and I spoke to the Saudi crown prince. He also asked me to speak to the Iranian president because he knew I would meet him.

"Ibn Salman asked me to calm the situation, perhaps to come up with a new deal, and in turn I conveyed that and yes we are doing our best," he said.

"This is ongoing and I cannot reveal more," he added.

Pakistani media revealed that Khan left for New York to participate in the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, last Saturday on the private plane of the Saudi Crown Prince.

Pakistani press reports quoted relevant sources as saying that Khan, who was on a visit to Saudi Arabia, wanted to board the normal commercial plane, but the Saudi crown prince insisted the flight to be on his own plane. No official body has commented on this account.

The Pakistani prime minister paid a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, where he met with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and the Crown Prince, during which Khan discussed political, economic and investment issues.

Concurrently, sources familiar with Mayadeen revealed an Iraqi initiative to mediate between Riyadh and Tehran.

The same sources pointed out that the Iraqi mediation aims to meet with leaders of Iran and Saudi Arabia in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
