Emirates drone Targeted Mitiga Airport in Tripoli

27 Sep 2019 08:23

Islam Times - Thursday morning the Libyan government forces "Al-Wefaq" announced that UAE drones have bombed the Mitiga International Airport in the capital Tripoli.

Emirates' support for retired Major General Khalifa Haftar is “a continuation of Haftar's criminal record in targeting infrastructure and airports in this so called operation "Volcano of Wrath”, Al Wefaq said in a statement.

The bombing  was a desperate attempt by him (Hifter) to compensate his losses, which suffered in the outskirts of Tripoli during his operation that was launched five months ago to control the capital.

The statement did not explain the results of the targeting, and the losses caused by the aerial bombardment.

Earlier this Thursday, eyewitnesses reported that the drone bombed  Mitiga airport in the morning, which has been inactive since the beginning of this month.

Mitiga is the only civil airport currently operating in the Libyan capital, and when it stops, all flights are forwarded to Misrata airport.

On September 2, Al-Wefaq's Ministry of Communications announced that the suspension of air traffic at the airport is due to the repeated aerial bombardment.
