Larijani: The Syrian issue cannot be solved by military forces

Islam Times - The head of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Ali Larijani, stressed that the Syrian issue cannot be solved militarily.


Speaking in Belgrade on Sunday on the sidelines of the 141st meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Larijani said that before the start of the war in Syria and Yemen, we proposed political dialogue, but some countries insisted on the war.

He pointed to the nuclear agreement reached during the Obama era, under which the emphasis on enrichment and the abolition of the embargo on Iran, pointing out that Trump breached the agreement and withdrew from it.

He added, "It is dangerous for America to do whatever it wants to other countries either by watching or by declaring political support only to speak like Europeans, who speak only and they do not do what they promise."

For his part, the speaker of the Algerian parliament stressed his country's policy of rejecting military intervention in other countries, pointing out that Algeria's foreign policy calls for dialogue and the establishment of security and stability in the region and therefore supports the sovereignty and independence of Syria and Yemen and preserve the territorial integrity.

He stressed the need to strengthen economic and trade relations with Iran, and considered the banking ban on Iran an obstacle to cooperation, calling for the search for a way to address this issue.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Ali Larijani said good steps had been taken to boost trade and economic cooperation between Iran and Qatar, calling for the development of bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 141st meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Belgrade, Larijani pointed out the circumstances of the region and said other countries (outside the region) are interfering in regional affairs and some countries in the region are also creating problems and Of course, the crisis still exists in the region and has widened in some areas so efforts must be made to address it.

He stressed that Iran considers that the basis for resolving the issues in the region is political dialogue, not military behavior, pointing out the damage caused by military behavior to the Yemeni people.

Regarding relations between Iran and Qatar, Larijani said he believed good steps had been taken so far in the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Qatari Shura Council chairman stressed during his meeting that his country's policy of always calling for dialogue, pointing to the unjust siege imposed on his country by some countries.

Ahmed Al-Mahmoud pointed to his country's mediation in the Yemen issue, considering the Yemeni people today as a victim of war.
