20 Oct 2019 06:37

Islam Times - Yesterday, six members of the Permanent Peace Movement (Lebanese NGO-PPM) were kidnapped in Logar province, southeast of the Afghan capital of Kabul, in conjunction with the organization's efforts to promote peace in Afghanistan. In a neighborhood, local media accused the Taliban of being behind the incident.

The Afghan channel "Shamshad" quoted that a member of the "permanent peace", "Bismillah and Tandost" as saying that "members of the movement were present in the past days in the province of Logar (southeast of the capital Kabul) in the framework of operations to promote peace."

"On Friday, the missing members held a large rally to promote peace in the Khushi region," said Lugar provincial spokesman Dedar Ahmad Lawang.

He pledged urgent efforts to ensure the safe release of the abducted "permanent peace" members.

The movement was aspiring to organize a debate on "peace" in the capital of the province, "Puli Khumri," but the kidnapping of six of its members postponed.

The Taliban had no comment on the incident.

Permanent Peace, an independent Lebanese NGO, was founded in 1986 during the Lebanese civil war by a group of university students to achieve ideals such as ending a particular war (or all wars).
