French ISIS put Paris in front of a horrible scenario

21 Oct 2019 08:24

Islam Times - A French anti-terrorism judge has called on his country to open the door to return to those who had previously fought in the Islamic State terrorist group in Syria and Iraq and warned against a "horrific scenario" if Paris did not resort to that option.

Judge David de Bas said that bringing in militants from the Middle East and prosecuting them under the law is far better than leaving them wandering, because that could make them think of attacks against the European country.

The Turkish aggression on northern Syria since October 9 has stoked fears about nearly 12,000 militants, including thousands of foreigners detained in Kurdish prisons.

According to intelligence information in Paris, there are between 60 and 70 French fighters in these prisons, along with 200 others, including women, as well as about 300 children, all of them French.

France has so far refused to return militants who have traveled to hotbeds of tension in the Middle East to fight, and insists they should be tried in the countries they have joined, but Paris only allows the return of children.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian traveled to Iraq a few days ago, to discuss the detainees of "ISIS" who may flee the prisons under the Turkish invasion.

But the French judge has little faith in Kurdish prisons and says they are highly porous and may not stand a barrier to the return of militants to Europe with the intention of carrying out terrorist attacks.

The judge stresses that the best solution is to bring the militants back to Europe for trial, but when they leave prison after serving sentences, they will always be under surveillance.
