Islam Times - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has revealed the real reason for the US withdrawal from the medium and short-range missile treaty.

According to the defense secretary, the reason is the US desire to curb the development of China and Russia in the military industry.

"The agreement was no longer in favor of the United States, especially because of China's growing military and economic power, the restoration of Russian defense potential and the expansion of military and military technical cooperation between the two countries," Shoigu said.

He confirmed that Washington had prepared in advance to withdraw from the missile treaty, after it began to accuse Moscow of violating it and Shoigu pointed the United States had established its march weapons, deployed drones in Europe and developed Tomahawk cruise missile launchers.

Then the Russian minister explained that after only 16 days of withdrawal from the treaty, the United States tested a new ground missile.

In this regard, Shoigu suggested that currently arms control laws in the world are being abolished, seriously threatening the security of states.

An agreement on the elimination of medium and short-range missiles was concluded between the Soviet Union and the United States in 1987 and banned the two countries from producing and deploying ballistic missiles and medium and short-range missiles.

On February 2, 2019, Washington began the process of withdrawal from the treaty, accusing Moscow of not complying with the terms of the document because of the Russian missile "M7 729". The Russian Defense Ministry denied allegations of violation of the agreement, and offered the 9M729 missile at a press conference of foreign military facilities in January 2019.

As a result, the Missile Treaty ended on August 2, 2019, at the initiative of the United States, and on August 19, Washington conducted ground-to-ground missile tests on San Nicolas Island, California, with a range of flights over 500 kilometers.
