3 Nov 2019 08:17

Islam Times - The Kurdish Red Crescent Organization confirmed that there are approximately 80 thousand children out of the total displaced from their homes in areas controlled by Turkish forces and the so-called National Army.

The organization pointed to the need to provide protection and psychological support and health sessions for them, pointing to dozens of displaced families in the schools of the town of Karakilaki (Al-Muabbada 65 km east of Qamishli).

Ilham Ahmed, a leader of the so-called Syrian Democratic Council, said around 400,000 people had been displaced from the areas of Tall Abyad, Ras al-Ain and Tall Tamr and 86,000 students were denied education.

In a separate context, the organization revealed that German and Lebanese families of three women and nine children were exposed to a landmine explosion while trying to cross into Turkey by smugglers.

The organization explained that the families were staying in the former Hul camp, pointing out that "because of the low level of protection in the camps and the region in the past period."

A number of international relief organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Mercy Corps, suspended their activities and decided in mid-October, a week after the Turkish attack, to evacuate all of their staff from northern and eastern Syria.
