30 Nov 2019 17:56

Islam Times - The Center for Illegal Immigration in Libya's far southeastern city of Kufra has deported a number of irregular migrants who have been arrested and placed in detention.

An official at the center said 140 irregular migrants had been deported from the Kufra shelter center to Chad and Sudan, adding that 60 of the deportees had infectious diseases.

The shelters in Libya are packed with migrants, who were rescued by security services at sea or arrested inside the country.

The International Organization for Migration revealed last month that there are about 6,000 migrants inside the shelters in Libya, while there are more than 650 thousand migrants outside Libyan territory

IOM offers migrants the opportunity to return home through a voluntary repatriation program.
