Islam Times - US Energy Secretary Rick Perry announced on Monday he was stepping down, without giving further details.

"Today I bid farewell to the Department of Energy," Perry wrote on Twitter. "I had the privilege to serve as secretary of the administration of US President Donald Trump."

US President Donald Trump has earlier confirmed the resignation of Energy Secretary Rick Perry and announced his successor.

"I would like to thank Energy Secretary Rick Perry for the outstanding job he has done," Trump tweeted.

"I am also delighted to nominate the current deputy minister, Dan Broelet, to the post of new energy minister."
