'Prince Charles must be stopped'

Story Code : 83063
Islam Times reports from Press TV: According to the reports issued by Alastair Campbell, press secretary of former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair, the Prince of Wales was blamed by Blair's government for too much meddling in policies.

In a move to demonstrate that the Prince has many times overstepped the legal boundaries, historically respected by the members of the royal family, it was also revealed that Charles has called nine ministers for secret discussions.

He asked at least nine senior members of the government including Chancellor George Osborne and Education Secretary Michael Gove to his London residence for secret discussion of his “pet subjects” over a ten-month period.

Republic's manager Graham Smith said: "What more proof do we need that Charles's lobbying is out of hand? He rides roughshod over constitutional boundaries, holds the democratic process in contempt and takes millions each year from the taxpayer -- he must be stopped.”

“New royal funding proposals mean Charles could gain millions from the development of offshore wind farms -- is that a result of his lobbying? How will we ever know which policies are the government's and which are Charles's?"

Claiming that there is an urgent need for deeper transparency around the Prince's influence, Smith added: “The royal FOI ban brought in by this government means we will not know the full extent of Charles's meddling until years after his death.”
