Turkey Announces the Transfer of 11 French ISIS Militants Back to Their Country

9 Dec 2019 14:00

Islam Times - Turkey has announced the deportation of 11 persons with French citizenship suspected of belonging to the terrorist organization "ISIS". "

On Monday morning, 11 French citizens from ISIS were transferred to their country," the Turkish Interior Ministry reported.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the process of "returning foreign terrorist fighters to their countries is continuing".

Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu announced last November that his country would start deporting the ISIS militants who are being held there to their countries of origin.

The Turkish security authorities arrested large numbers of members of the "ISIS" who hold the nationalities of European countries, during the "Peace Spring" operation carried out by the Turkish forces last month in areas in northeastern Syria.

With the deportation of the 11 French ISIS militants, the number of those who were deported on charges of belonging to ISIS from Turkey amounts to about 71.
