23 Dec 2019 05:55

Islam Times - About 30 armed terrorists erected a barrier on a major highway in northeast Nigeria, where they parked cars and checked the identities of their passengers in search of members of the security forces, Christian citizens, or Fulani ethnic herders, they killed 6 of them and kidnapped 5 others, according to eyewitnesses.

The witnesses said that the attack took place near the village of Ghasarwa, 100 km north of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, and was launched by members of the terrorist group ISIS in West Africa.

Aaron Achiro, a bus driver who was stopped by the terrorists and who had picked up several of their victims, said that the gunmen "killed six people and kidnapped five others, including a woman."

"They specifically targeted security personnel, paramilitary forces, Fulani herders, and Christians," he told AFP.

According to the eyewitness, some of the dead were shot and killed while the rest were slaughtered as they were forced to kneel and beheaded.

The six dead were two Christian and police merchants, and three shepherds from the Fulani ethnicity, including two women.

The kidnapped people are a policeman, an employee, and three humanitarian workers.

Ten years of terrorism in Nigeria has killed 35,000 people and displaced 2 million.
