Demising Hegemony: The US Under Resistance Strikes

Launching nearly 150 attacks by Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on the American bases in Syria and Iraq in recent three months is only part of the Resistance camp’s actions to punish the Israel’s allies in the region whose hands are stained with blood of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian women and children. 

Continuing its operations, on Friday, the Iraqi Islamic Resistance shot down an advanced American drone. 

“In order to counter the American occupation in the region, support the people of Gaza, and protect the sovereignty of Iraq, on Thursday we targeted and shot down an American MQ9 drone in the skies of Diyala province with the appropriate weapon. This drone, which was flown from the American base in Kuwait, was targeted and shot down only 2 hours after its takeoff,” a statement by the resistance group said. 

MQ9 is an offensive drone capable of remote control or autonomous flight operations, designed for long-term high-altitude surveillance. This $15 million drone was also used in the assassination operation of Iran’s anti-terror General Qassem Soleimani and his comrades in Baghdad airport. Therefore, the downing of this type of advanced UAV by Iraqi groups is seen a success that will be effective in changing the rules of the game against their American enemy. 

Also, in a very important development on Saturday evening, the Ain al-Assad military base that hosts American forces in Iraq’s Al Anbar province came under a large-scale rocket attack by the Iraqi Islamic Resistance. This is the largest attack on the bases of the American occupation in the region since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. Figures of the casualties and damages of this massive missile attack have not yet been reported, but surely in the coming days the media will focus more on the dimensions of this heavy blow to the Americans. 

Yemen’s Ansarullah a thorn in the American side

In addition to the Iraqi groups, Yemen’s Ansarullah forces also targeted an American ship in the Red Sea last week, an attack the Pentagon officials confirmed, saying that it was carried out with cruise missiles.

In October, the United States deployed two aircraft carriers in the region, one of which withdrew but was replaced by other warships. By deploying these ships, the US tried to send a warning message to Iran as the backer of resistance movements in the region and its allies about their military support for Gaza. But these deployments did not force-stop support for the people of Gaza, and Ansarullah targeted dozens of commercial ships belonging to the Israeli regime in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait with their missile operations, causing serious consequences for the Israeli economy. 

Hezbollah chief Sayed Hassan Nasrallah in his first speech since start of war on Gaza had warned the Americans that the Axis of Resistance has at its disposal the equipment and adequate power to strike American warships in the region, a warning that rendered the White House officials severely concerned. This showed that even the American warships that were dispatched to cause terror and frighten the resistance forces themselves are not immune to missile attacks, and from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea areas are not safe for their sailing. 

Now the resistance groups have taken the initiative in their confrontation with the US and are attacking American interests in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea from the ground and air, and they have repeatedly said that they are ready for any scenario from Washington and Tel Aviv. Therefore, with the continuous attacks on the American positions, it became clear to everyone that it is not impossible to strike this empty hegemony and the military deterrence of this military superpower is no not as effective as before. 

The US has become so desperate by the attacks of Iraqi and Yemeni groups that it turned to blacklisting as its last resort. It put Ansarullah on its terror list on Friday, so that it might be able to get rid of the troubles caused by this movement’s operations.

Military conflict with the US is not an easy task with the presence of numerous American military bases in the region and its large navy, and the resistance forces, in addition to the courage and faith necessary to face this enemy, have managed to ground the US war machine with a precise military strategy along with discovering the enemy’s weak and strong spots. 

All Resistance branches have come up to the truth that the US and Israeli regime only know language of force and language of diplomacy does not work with these women and children killers. Actually, the Resistance camp is shouldering the burden of the UN and international organizations that have so far failed to stop Israeli war machine. 

With great propaganda, the US formed the Guardian of Prosperity naval coalition with the presence of only a handful countries to protect the security of Israeli navigation through checking Ansarullah operations in the Red Sea, but even this plan did not work and on the contrary motivated further Yemeni resolution to continue their solidarity with the people of Palestine. The military strength of Yemen has caused the close allies of Washington doubt its capability to protect their ships and thus decide not to face off Ansarullah to keep their maritime trade away from the conflict. 

According to reports, due to Ansarullah’s missile operations, Israeli ports, which once were one of the busiest ports in the region before the Gaza war, are now almost empty of ships. Many shipping companies have ordered their crews to circumnavigate Africa, which will be expensive and longer, instead of crossing the Red Sea for their safety. All these have been achieved thanks to display of force by resistance groups in support of Gaza. Ansarullah leader Seyyed Abdul Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi emphasized in his speech on Thursday that the direct conflict with the US and England is a matter of pride and honor and that the conflict will continue until the Israeli attacks on Gaza stop. 

The conditions of the American forces in Syria and Iraq are way more dangerous since the resistance force access them easily. The Republicans accuse Biden of failing to build deterrence against these groups, while the fact is that Biden and his security team have no options to deter the resistance groups and Iran. The New York Times recently revealed that there are serious differences among the White House officials over the way to counter Ansarullah, to an extent that is wavering about continuing strikes on Yemen to realize the American goals. 

A prelude to expel the US from West Asia 

The US-Axis of Resistance confrontation over Gaza is not a temporary and passing development, and the level of this confrontation has gone so high that its implications will be more palpable in the future. The upcoming developments in which the US troops will be killed or the interests and assets of this country will be severely damaged in the Red Sea and Persian Gulf at the end of the road will leave the US no choice but retreat from the Middle East. After all, Iran and resistance forces have developed so high a deterrence against the US that they will not allow it to start a new war in the region and the attacks from Iraq to Yemen are a pretext for full American expulsion from the Persian Gulf.
