“We should not surrender the city of Jerusalem or abandon it in favor of the ongoing Zionist’s settlement construction”

In an exclusive interview with Islam Times’ correspondent in the city of Jerusalem today, His Eminence Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, said that what Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist occupation, has stated regarding continuing the construction in Jerusalem, in exchange for facilities in Palestinian cities, is unacceptable. He also added that Netanyahu wants to deceive the International public opinion, because the settlement is initially rejected and should not be accepted at all.
He explained that no one is entitled to abandon Jerusalem, or surrender its soil, and it should not be subject to political bargaining. He also emphasized the Islamic, Arab, and Palestinian right in the city of Jerusalem.
The Mufti of Jerusalem considered that the Zionist occupation is very responsible for the excavations and the acts aiming at judicizing the Islamic and Christian holy sites that are taking place in Jerusalem in general and in Al-Aqsa mosque in particular. He added that the enemy’s government is deliberately turning a blind eye to what the Zionist extremist groups and settlers are carrying out in the courtyards of the Holy Al-Aqsa mosque.
His Eminence pointed out that Netanyahu's right-wing Zionist extremist government aims at emptying the city of Jerusalem of its inhabitants, either by expelling them or by the ongoing settlement construction. According to him, this comes in order to make the Palestinians a minority and the Zionist Jews a majority.
Therefore, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein addressed an appeal to the Arab and Islamic countries, the League of Arab States, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, and Jerusalem Committee to intervene immediately to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque before it is too late.
