New Zealand removes Occupy camps
Auckland Council officers and police on Monday seized cars, tents, and camping equipment from scores of peaceful protesters on four sites in the city. The police also arrested three activists.

The clampdown followed a local court's giving the green light to authorities to remove the camps, calling them illegal.

There are still many Occupy camps in other New Zealand cities.

Occupy campaigns sprung out across the world after a group of demonstrators gathered on Wall Street on September 17, 2011 to protest against the excessive influence of big corporations on the US policies and the high-level corruption in the country.
