Qatar uses money and the media to stir up sedition and spread lies
It was agreed that the position of Al-Jazeera in what is happening in the Arab region is not objective because its orientation is in line with its objectives. The stage actor Mohammed Sobhi confirmed in remarks published in the Weekly journal «Al Ahram Al Arabi» his rejection of the information by the Jazeera channel and he assured that he no longer watches it.

In this context, the magazine quotes the singer Warda as saying: “Al Jazeera channel and its employees and staff are responsible for killing thousands of Libyans and attempting to kill a maximum number of innocent lives in Syria through the use of media as a means of mass destruction and spreading lies”. She addressed the staff of the channel saying: “You killed thousands of Libyans and you still reap as much as possible of the lives of innocent people in Syria and you swear that you have never clung to a weapon. I answer that you have the most powerful weapon which is the media, a weapon of mass destruction and you have used to kill Arabs”.

For his part, Nabil Halafawi saw that the channel plays a supporting role for the Islamic movements, and demanded its viewers to return to the pro-junta position of the channel in Egypt after the revolution of January 25, which was overturned after “Al Jazeera Live” stopped broadcasting because it was not granted license.

On the other hand, media expert Egyptian Yasser Abdul Aziz saw that since the Prince of Qatar was replaced by his father in 1995, it was clearly evident that the new system in Qatar is ambitious to play roles beyond the local and regional levels. He pointed out that the elements of this ambition are to enhance the diplomacy of the state and inherit the roles of the traditional Arabic forces through the use of hot money and playing on the balances.

Abdul Aziz said that Qatar benefits from its small geographical location and the lack of the burden of history which enables it to accept the roles which cannot be played by other regional powers, because of the burdens of history and nationalism which prevent them from playing such role.

An Egyptian critic noted that Qatar does not have any human, geographical, or historical potential enabling it to play a role in the region and cannot adopt any position inside Saudi Arabia knowing the consequences of this. Therefore, it refers to the side which serves its interests only. He believed that Qatar blackmails the major countries in the region for the benefit of its prime minister who is looking for a place in the international map, through the media machine that orients ideas and causes problems that are often not well-intentioned.

In an article by Hassan Al Bashir in the journal “Al Ahram Al Arabi” entitled “Al-Jazeera between professionalism and ethics ... Channel state or a State channel” says that what is happening in Qatar (which has an area of about 11 thousand square kilometers) is far from logic. It makes sense for a state to produce media that is reveals its situations but it is illogical for the media to produce a state and become all its issues, weapons, judge, and foreign front”.

The magazine pointed out that the channel was the main window of America on the Arab world where it passed through whatever it wanted. It also pointed out that the U.S. plan of invasion of Iraq was in the hands of officials in the channel since a few days before the invasion. That is in addition to it being the first to broadcast the documents of Wikileaks, not to mention its possession of an army of analysts and journalists who are paid monthly to turn the channel enemies into their own enemies.

The magazine concluded its article by saying that the channel “Al Jazeera” is a political tool developed by Qatar within the framework of its policy to play influential roles at the regional and the global levels. The idea behind the channel was for it to be one of the elements of soft power for the Qatar political project. However, the channel has become larger and increased its influence to become one of the pillars of Qatar and means for its self-expression.

Qatar used the channel “Al Jazeera” to enhance its image and implant its position as well as to pressure its opponents and improve its negotiation chances.
