Pakistan opposition parties unite against potential resumption of US-led forces supply line
But the Taliban threats are not the only factor for MPs of Muslim League Nawaz, the biggest Opposition group in country’s Parliament.

This mainstream Opposition party feels losing support among the people when early this year, its MPs supported government sponsored conditional recommendations in the Parliamentary Committee on National Security to reopen the US-led forces supply-line in return of halting US drone attacks in tribal areas and getting civil nuclear technology from Washington to generate the electricity to end the lingering energy crises in the country.

Fearing more public backlash -- now the Muslim League of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has opposed the reopening of US-led forces supply-line under no terms and conditions.

That is not all. This mainstream Opposition party has also sounded determined to resist the government move in the Parliament to allow the continuation of US espionage network in Pakistan and use of airbases by Americans under the cover of so-called war on terror.

The reluctance by the ruling alliance to oppose the US policies has helped the other religious and political parties to gain substantial public support.

The rising anti-American sentiments in Pakistan now seem to have become a leading factor for Opposition parties in formulating their policies.
