West Bank local elections slated for October 20‎

A further 78 districts are yet to present their list of candidates and have been issued an extension for the 18th October and therefore the elections in these districts will be held on a later date of 24th November.

The manager of the Central Elections Commission spoke about the importance of equal opportunities for men and women in the run up to the elections.

The election campaigns will begin this Saturday and will continue up until the local election.

They furthermore discussed the importance of fairness in the election campaign.

Over 500,000 people will have the right to vote during this election although rights activists are worried about the lack of multiple candidates in the majority of the electoral districts.
