Over 100,000 people march against UK’s austerity plans
Public budgets in Britain have been slashed. And the coalition government plans to cut tens of billions of pounds more. They say it’s a painful but necessary measure to reduce one of Europe’s biggest deficits. Critics say it’s the wrong policy.

Over 2.5 million people are unemployed in Britain. A further 3 million aren’t working enough hours to make ends meet. For those who do work. Wages have been falling every month for the last three years. The young have been hit particularly hard. Since the coalition came to power long-term youth unemployment has risen by 23 per cent.

Experts critical of the government say they are deepening a crisis that will impact generations to come.

The message for David Cameron, nick clegg and the coalition government is clear. But will they listen? Anger at austerity is rapidly rising in Britain. And protesters here say that if this time the government don’t take action, next they will strike.
